The INR 20 cr ropeway project over the picturesque Fateh Sagar Lake connecting the Neemach Mata temple is expected to add another feather on the cap of the tourism attractions of the top ranking smart city of Rajasthan, Udaipur. Damodar Ropeways & Infra Limited (DRIL), which has bagged the contract to construct the new ropeway on Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT), is hopeful of completing the project by the end of 2022.
The 430-m long ropeway will start near SCERT Hostel, Fateh Sagar Lake, and end at Neemach Mata Temple at HillTop on the banks of the lake which is the second largest artificial freshwater lake in Asia. The Fateh Sagar Lake is one of the top most attractions of the city of Udaipur on the banks of which are full of structures which proclaim the royal past of the city.
In the online ranking released by the Union government of 100 Smart cities of the country, Udaipur tops the list among Rajasthan cities with 8th rank. Futuristic infrastructure projects like the Ropeway project is expected to further elevate the stature of the city in the smart city rankings in coming years.
DRIL holds an accident free record for nearly four decades in constructing ropeway and cable car projects at multiple locations in India and abroad. “We want to contribute significantly to the nationwide campaign of ‘Make in India’, by using indigenous raw materials, employing local construction workers, Indian civil engineers and establishing projects as per the government guidelines,” says Aditya Chamaria, Managing Director, DRIL.
